Feature article over on the DWF Blog

Filed under Announcement • Written by Trent @ 1:41 pm

I’ve been doing some writing for the Digital Wedding Forum Blog, which is one of the public facing parts of the Digital Wedding Forum, a place where wedding photographers can go to learn, be inspired, offer advice and just hang out.

Anyway. I did an interview with Seth Godin about the art of wedding photography about a week ago and it is the feature story over on the blog. It’s a bit inside baseball-y, but if you’re into marketing or wedding photography at all, it’s worth a read.

A Website for Northern Brides?

Hi all:

If you’ve come here looking for another shot that escaped my notice last year, you’ll have to look elsewhere. This post is specifically written for her. Right there. Yes, you, over there, behind that computer monitor. Don’t look like that, you know I’m talking to you. You just sort of clicked here looking for a wedding photographer, right? That means you’re getting married, right?

Then this post is for you, as it is for all brides in Northern BC and Alberta.

I’ve long had this feeling that brides in Northern BC and Alberta have long been underserved online. There are very few places for brides to find out information about vendors, to read what other brides have to say about their experiences, and to meet with those other brides.

I am considering changing this. But I want to know how you (yes, I’m still talking to you; stop pretending you’re not there.) feel on the issue. I’m not a bride-to-be. I’m, well, I’m a guy, and I like technology, and I may be seeing issues where none exist.

Do you feel like there aren’t any websites dedicated to you? Or are you happy with the state of things? Either way, I want to hear from all the brides in the Peace Region, and find out what it is, if anything would make your wedding planning easier.

So, if you have a few minutes, you can fill out this questionnaire. But really, the questions are just a beginning. The idea behind the site is social: a chance for people to get together virtually or in reality, and communicate. So I invite you to call or email me with your ideas, too, especially if they don’t fit nicely into the questionnaire I have prepared. The questionnaire, and contact information, is found here.

Wow, what a weekend

One Spot Left!

Filed under Announcement, Personal • Written by Trent @ 11:30 am

Dear Tumbler Ridge:

Thank you!

There was so much demand for the Fotos for Food Foodbank Fundraiser, that we added in a second day, and there is only one spot left that day, too. A big thank you to all the people who have signed up and who have pitched in to help. If you were hoping to join in the fun, better act now, because I don’t think that one spot will be around for very long at all.

Focusing on Families

Filed under Announcement, Portrait • Written by colette @ 10:24 pm

We love families. Eye For Detail is a family business, run by me (Trent) and her (Colette).

As we near christmas, our focus is on families. For the month of November we are offering families two ways to celebrate the season and capture the connections they share: A month-long family one hour special and a one day food bank portrait event.

For the month of November your 1 hour session includes 25 free 5X7 christmas cards designed to fit your style and personality, or two 11X14 prints of one image – one to keep and one to give as a gift! Each session is tailored to you, capturing the love, fun and connections between your loved ones. Book early to get you items on time for mailing out.

Fotos for Food Bank

_MG_9909On November 21, Eye For Detail is going into the studio for an event that only comes round once a year. We’re doing a Portrait Fundraiser for the Tumbler Ridge Food Bank.

For $20 (the cost of an 8X10 print) and a non-perishable food donation, you will get a 20 minute portrait session and an 8X10 enlargement of your favourite print from that session.

This is one of the big fundraising events for the foodbank, and benefits not only the community, but you, too.

Do give us a call at 250-242-4424 or send an email to book your session. And if you know someone else who might be interested in donating to the food bank and getting a photo, please pass this information on.

As you may or may not know, Eye For Detail recently started putting out a newsletter. One of the main reasons for the newsletters is to keep in touch with our clients and fans.

The newsletter will let you  know what’s happening in our life, give you a photo tip or two, show you some of our recent work, and pass on news about recent specials or deals, some of which are only for newsletter subscribers.

If you sign up for the newsletter between now and December 31, you’ll be entered in a draw for a free portrait session and a couple 11X14 enlargements. And if you know anyone else who might be interested, you can forward the newsletter on to them. If they sign up for the newsletter, you’ll be entered in another draw. Same prize, just different jar to pull names from.

To subscribe, simply fill in the extremely simple form below.

A newsletter only goes one way, and we’re interested in knowing what you’re up to, too. So feel free to contact us at photos@eyefordetailphotos.com with all your latest news.

Northeast News Article

Filed under Announcement • Written by Trent @ 11:12 am

So I’ve heard from a couple people that there was an article about me (Trent) and Eye For Detail Photography in the Northeast News. I haven’t seen it yet, though having said that, I wonder if there is an online version.

There is, but the latest edition isn’t up yet.

Anyway. If you’re one of the people who just throws the paper out, but might be curious about reading some of my thoughts about the art of photography, hold on to the most recent edition. And soon as it goes online, I’ll link to it.

If you’re one of the people showing up here because of the article, feel free to say hi, ask questions, or just poke around. You might want to learn a bit more about us, check out some of the pretty wedding or portrait images, or visit our site dedicated to graduation photography.

If you like the images and want to be updated whenever we add a new post, feel free to subscribe to our RSS feed, or get notified by email. Go to our contact us page for more information.

Site maintenance and plug-in issues

Filed under Announcement • Written by Trent @ 1:30 pm

Hey All:

I’ve just updated this website, due to possible security threats.

However, the new update and the plug-in that manages my photos don’t play nice with each other. The solution is pretty simple: add a line break before adding a photo set.

I’ve gone back and fixed the problem at least to the beginning of the year, but if you run into any pages or posts that are displaying incorrectly, do let me know which page it was.

Thanks.
