You can't really tell, but this photo was taken during winter; the temperature was well below zero, but Breanna was a trooper, even though she was only in a bikini and a lace shawl thing. And a mask. Don't forget the mask. I like masks. You'll be seeing a lot of masks over the year. Why? ⠀⠀Well, masks can hide identity but can also reveal character and emotion. They can be creepy or they can be sensual. They can be used as a symbol of control, or of freedom. They can be used to draw attention away from someone's identity and focus it on another aspect, like eyes, or lips or attitude.⠀⠀They can have cultural significance, or they can have spiritual significance.⠀⠀Some wear masks to keep safe, like doctors wearing masks or scientists wearing hazmat suits. Others wear them to place themselves in dangerous situations, think bank robbers.⠀⠀Masks are metaphors for ways we present ourselves to the world. The mask hides our fears, and allows us to be bolder.⠀⠀By hiding our face, perhaps we may reveal our soul.⠀⠀#model #grandeprairephotographer #peaceriverphotographer #masks #masked #eyes #modelmonday #grandeprairiealberta #grandeprairie #peaceriverphotographer

Something Saturday⠀⠀My wife has always been fascinated by non-alcoholic drinks, dating back to her days in high school and aspiring to write a cookbook of non-alcoholic drinks. ⠀⠀A couple years back, she decided to do a blog instead. She went all out on it, until all the muddling and mixing started to give her serious elbow troubles. She may still post there occasionally, but there's a bunch of interesting posts up on the #experimentalvirgin blog. ⠀⠀#lemonade #mixology @summer #lemons #tumblerridge #tumblerridgephotography #peaceriverphotographer

Throwback Thursday⠀This goes back nearly eight years now. I was in Medicine Hat visiting @darinclisby, and, I was looking for dancers to take pictures of. ⠀⠀ I don't ever remember how we met them, but we found hree dancers, who exist only in a folder called "dancers" on my computer, so I can't even remember her name. I do know this is one of my favourite shots ever. ⠀⠀Normally, when I revisit a picture I look at it and think I pused the editing too far. This one, I thought was not far enough so I did a bit of work on it. In five years, I'll probably look at it and think I pushed it too far, so I'll re-edit it again. ⠀⠀#dancer #throwbackthursday #lips

Whoops. Was supposed to post this yesterday but was out of town. Wedding Wednesday⠀⠀It was wet the day that Andrew and Bonnie got married. Really wet. Like, looking for ark type wet. But not, fortunately, all day. The rain held off for the ceremony and it rained on and off through the photos, but just as we were about to wrap it up, it started pouring. Fortunately we were almost done when the rain broke out, and everyone moved on for lunch which was under a giant outdoor tent. As it rained I looked wistfully at the rain. One of the bridesmaids asked why I was so distant. "oh, just have always wanted to get a shot of someone in a dress dancing in the rain," I said. ⠀⠀"I'l do it," she said. ⠀⠀And the rain cleared up and it was a beautiful day the rest of the day. ⠀⠀I got this shot of the happy couple while I was setting up for a group picture. I was in the second story of a cottage near, standing on a balcony, waiting for the rain to clear up so I could take a picture of the wedding party out on the lawn. Looking down, I saw the two canoodling, and told them to keep at it, and I got this. I have no idea what he's doing, but apparently it was working. What a great smile. ⠀Wedding Wednesday⠀⠀⠀#fortstjohn #weddingphotographer #weddingphotography #eyefordetail #eyefordetailphotography #bride #dress

Model Monday⠀⠀Okay, I won't take credit for the whole "model in bathtub filled with flowers" idea. It's been done before, but I hadn't done it, until I got Ashlee to willingly climb into a bathtub wearing a dress. The water was a bit cold, but the shoot, I'm happy to say, went extremely well. ⠀⠀#modelmonday #tumblerridge #tumblerridgephotography #model #peaceriverphotographer #flowers #tub
